We are Ohiopyle Wellness Shack, a collection of local artistans and community members who promote wellness and inspiration - serving as a conduit for real change in our local community and for all who visit.
At the shack, we believe that everyone is a teacher and that everyone should be a student. It is our hope to create communication & networking opportunities to serve as a vehicle for positive growth and connections throughout our local mountain communities. It is through this network of connections, that a wide variety of products & services can be offered; enabling a communities' participants to return to a time where needs were met for all through the teamwork of a thriving community. We are dedicated to creating a tidal wave of transformational love in our beautiful mountain community of Ohiopyle, Pa.
We may not be able to see it yet, but we sure can feel it, and it is now time to create it... a kinder, more complete world down, traveling together. 💞
...it all started on a post-covid road trip to Tennessee. The Joseph crew, 6 at the time 😉, were desperately trying to land on where to feed our rumbling bellies amongst the rolling hills and speeding tires, when finally a food exit appeared with only one option..
... it simply read, "OPEN TABLE. "
It was decided that no matter the menu, it was the place for us. So, we curved our speeding tires around the exit ramp... and down a few roads... and around the corner.. and up a hill.. until we reached a small sleepy mountain town that reminded us ever so slightly of our own.
We eagerly bounced across the parking lot, excited at the opportunity to fill our bellies.. and to stretch a little, noticing some differences between the OPEN TABLE and traditional restaurants here and there along the way. For starters, it appeared to be in a social hall of some type, interesting.
We grabbed a few menus and quickly realized that there was ONLY ONE MEAL on the menu! Weird.
Soon, a kindhearted woman exited the building to assist us... allowing sounds of warm laughter&conversing to escape out and fill the space around her. 💗She explained to us that OPEN TABLE was a daily meal that she prepared for her local community. It had begun shortly after covid, when she had noticed that many of their town residents had become accustomed to eating alone; some of the older men in particular. Some wouldn't eat for days since their wives' passing, reasons ranging from shear loneliness and depression to lack of needed cooking skills.
She said she felt something had to be done. Therefore, she started small with making a meal and inviting all to join. Slowly, it gained popularity and she started making a meal each morning, using whatever supplies she could buy cheap and in bullk, then serving until it ran out.
It continued to grow, and the more people came, the more she found the others that saw the need jumped in to fill it in any way they could to contribute... donating, cooking, cleaning, and attending to help spread the love. Thanks to those others, the meal was able to be offered FREE OF CHARGE, with suggested donation amounts given next to menu items for those carloads of hungry travelers like ourselves wanting to do our part to support a good cause.
As we returned to our family road trip, the conversing was captivated by what we had just discovered. And then, the question was asked... "hey ma, why can't we do something like that at home?" .... and soon our very own Ohiopyle's OPEN TABLE Sunday Dinner was born. 🍽❤️
I would like to take a moment to say, THANK YOU, to all who have attended & participated through the years; and there are many of you!! Your support of our Community is greatly appreciated, and thank you for helping spread the love. TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAMWORK.
I have to give a special shout out to those who have been our "others" alongside us- helping to cook, clean, & plan for these amazing community dinners. The Joseph crew is so grateful for community family like you!
SOOOooo, please join us ...
because there is always room for one more at Sunday dinner! -Xoxo 😘
The river offers medicine for us, even on those cold WINTER BLUES kinda days. ❄️🌊❣️
Soak up the sunshine whenever and wherever you can; stuff it way down deep, for seasonal depression is real, quite real indeed.

hello again, i'm so happy that you managed to find me... julia, julie, juls, jewel, jj, aunt jul, aunt ju ju, bob, bull, julbull, juliagulia, gypsyjulia, or any other name that you may know me by; i thank you for visiting.
i am simply an adventurous soul striving to live an authentic life. i believe that to truly live is the rarest thing in this world; i feel most spend their lives just merely existing. i am a creator, a dreamer, an artist, a designer, an owner of businesses, an investor in people, a community member, a volunteer, an organizer, a deep lover of nature, a healer, a counselor, & much, much, more. as you can see, our paths could have crossed a beautiful myriad of ways, but regardless of how our paths have crossed, i am happy you're here with me now.
i advocate for living a simple life, one filled with small everyday joys and lots of love. often times, it is those of us who opt for living a simple quiet and modest life who are the most happy. personally, i dream of days spent creating my art & turtle puttzin my way through each day; open to wherever i may be led and excited for all the tiny adventures around every bend awaiting me.
below, you will find links to our family shoppes, some of my artwork&creations, as well as several of our community outreach programs that we currently have going. if you are unable to find what you are looking for, please drop me a line so we can connect some more. i look forward to our next encounter and in the meantime, i wish you all the best!
xoxo - julia 😘

choosing to live a life of gratitude is why i do what i do. Simple. ❤️
i do the things i do, not because of what i might get out of them, but because they are the things that feel right in my heart. truly.
i do not love with expectation that others will love in return and i do not give of myself in the hopes of getting something back. i simply do what i do because that is who i am, regardless of anyone or anything outside of me; this is my most authentic spirit. i believe that we all have the right to choose how we wish to experience this life, and gratitude is my choice. i choose to be grateful for all of the life that i am blessed to experience in this world. 🙏
i do what i do because i am eternally grateful for the traumatic trek through the vast mountain ranges i have had to conquer in my lifetime, and even more so for the serenity that i have since found from learning to choose life's valleys of surrender as well. i believe that anyone can be a teacher, and that everyone should be a student; and that wellness is achievable by all. while i am certified in health coaching, nutrition, chronic disease, brain health, & many other alternative holistic therapies; i have learned the most valuable of teachings from the school of hard knocks. it is through first-hand experience from years of chronic illness, countless surgeries, & my many many long roads to recovery that i have paved my own path to personal health&wellness.
i have always been an extremely curious person and contrary to what i have been told, curiosity does NOT kill the cat! haha, i am still here. i just simply love to learn, and my quest in healing for myself has led me to a wealth of personal knowledge. i pray that my thirst for knowledge never wanes, for i wish to learn something new every day that i am blessed to have in this lifetime. i have had my share of dark days, but it was in that darkness i was able to find my strength & sovereignty. for that, i am truly grateful, and if my story can be of help to anyone, then i am more than willing to share it.
xoxo -julia 😘
PLEASE NOTE:
i am not registered with the state of pennsylvania, nor do i ever claim to be a Healthcare provider, of any kind. i am but a self-healing woman who, as in many shamanic traditions, can only assist in shining a light on the path which i have traveled and any that may open before you. However, that path is yours alone to travel, one of great healing and of FREE WILL.
